Florida Bright Futures Scholarship program

This scheme was created in 1997 with the help of lottery funding and has a high success rate for applications, with approximately 30% of students who were eligible recieving a Bright Futures Scholarship.

Bright Futures rewards students for their academic achievements during high school by providing funding for them to pursue postsecondary educational and career goals in Florida.

With over 140,000 Florida students received funding for a Florida Bright Futures Scholarship during the 2005-2006, it's one of the biggest funders of students.

Educational Achievements

You'll need your unweighted or weighted High School GPA and your SAT scores (& ACT, CPT test scores if you have them)

Other Requirements

  • You'll need to meet Florida's residency requirements for receipt of state financial aid - that's a minimum of 12 consecutive months prior to the first day of the academic term for which funds are requested.
  • Be a US citizen or have eligibility
  • Meet specific coursework, test score and grade point averages

Deadlines

The deadline is currently the High School Graduation Date, but always check online at the Florida Student Financial Aid website for the latest info.

How to Apply

  • Complete & submit an Initial Student Florida Financial Aid Application before the deadline date (you can find it at www.FloridaStudentFinancialAid.org). 
  • Apply in good time (during your last year of high school, before graduation)

Renewal of your grant is not automatic, but dependent on achieving a certain GPA level.
