Grant 'n' Scholarship Search

Search for free college scholarships, money & grants

Welcome to our free college scholarship search directory.

If you're looking for financial help to get you through college, we've scoured the top websites for the latest information and news.

This site is aimed at helping you find scholarships, grants, awards and financial aid that is targeted to your background, abilities and specialist area.

Much of the financial aid available is through federal loans and college grants and scholarships.

However, it may also be worth looking for smaller grants available only to students from your current high school, town or city, as there is less competition for these awards.

Scholarships

Seen as "free" money, scholarships are very competitive and highly sought after.

If you're considering applying for a scholarship, you'll need to do some research and take some advice on where to apply and what to write in your application letter.

Check your local area

In general, the smaller the geographical area a scholarship covers, the better your chances of winning.

Sometimes there are trusts and grant-making bodies right in your local town, city or State, whose express purpose is to help further the education of young people living there.

Often a visit to the library or a simple 'phone call may help establish whether these exist, otherwise, you may be able to dig out the information on one of the many free search facilities available online.

Check organisations and employers

Grants are sometimes available from larger organisations and employers, check out those in your local area, read up the info in your library to see what's available.

Check the Colleges

Most of the funding available is given out through colleges.

You should be able to find up-to-date information on college websites, catalogs, and financial aid offices.  Always check that any info you find is up-to-date.

Get Ready Now

You need to start thinking ahead of time what sets you apart from other students - how are you different ?

Perhaps you're involved in a local youth project, help out at the hospital, or have volunteered in some other way.  These are not optional, but are essential if you're serious in your application, as this is what will mark you as different from the hundreds or thousands of applications that the popular programs receive.

Make sure that you've got good relationships with the teaching staff who are likely to be writing references for you in a few months time - chat with them about your hopes and aspirations - so that they can get an insight into why you're applying and be supportive of your application.

Best of luck!
